Campylobacter jejuni NCTC 11168 was capable of growth to levels comparable with FeSO4 in defined iron-limited medium (minimal essential medium alpha [MEMalpha]) containing ferrilactoferrin, ferritransferrin, or ferri-ovotransferrin.
