A catalog of 50 family cancer syndromes is presented, representing all Mendelian modes of inheritance and influential genes on chromosomes 1-20, 22 and the X. Certain trends are emerging such as recurrent involvement of the RecQ family of DNA helicases and somatic overgrowth in the family cancer syndromes. A big question now is: can family cancer syndromes be reliably spotted by primary care clinicians?
