Abstract excerpt
During a 1-year study period, 96 strains of Stenotrophomonas maltophilia were isolated from different specimens of 59 patients admitted to a 1500 bed tertiary care university hospital. The strains were identified by commercially available API system and genotyped by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) and random primer PCR fingerprinting.
