Norepinephrine is frequently elevated in postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS), a syndrome of heterogeneous etiology characterized by a >30 beats/min increase in heart rate with standing. Norepinephrine is synthesized from dopamine by dopamine-beta-hydroxylase (DBH).
