To investigate whether the knockdown of SMemb gene expression induces phenotypic modulation of vascular smooth muscle (VSM) cells toward a contractile type, we constructed a siRNA targeting the 3' untranslated region (UTR) of SMemb gene (SMemb-siRNA).
