Several strains of sulfate-reducing bacteria were isolated from marine sediments recovered near Tunis, Korbous and Bizerte, Tunisia. They all showed characteristics consistent with members of the genus Desulfovibrio. One of these strains, designated MB3(T), was characterized further.
