Poliovirus infection of either undifferentiated or differentiated U937 cells produced a decrease in the percentage of cells positive for the surface expression of the CD4, CD11c, CD14, or 8E11 antigens. The number of 4F2 surface molecules per cell increased in infected normal U937 cells, but was unaffected in differentiated cells.
