We cloned, expressed, and purified the hdeB gene product, which belongs to the hdeAB acid stress operon. We extracted HdeB from bacteria by the osmotic-shock procedure and purified it to homogeneity by ion-exchange chromatography and hydroxyapatite chromatography.
