Human papillomavirus (HPV) has been found in lung cancer cases with variable frequency. In the present study, we analysed a series of 38 patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) (21 paraffin-embedded archival samples and 17 fresh surgical specimens) for the presence of E6 and E7 oncogenes of HPV16, 18 and 31.
