Four xylanases belonging to glycoside hydrolase family 10-Thermotoga maritima XylB (TM), Clostridium stercorarium XynB (CS), Bacillus halodurans XynA (BH), and Cellulomonas fimi Cex (CF)-were converted to glycosynthases by substituting the nucleophilic glutamic acid residues with glycine, alanine, and serine.
