Antisera against purified autolytic N-acetylmuramyl-L-alanine amidase from Bacillus subtilis 168 were prepared in rabbits. They neutralized the enzymatic action of the purified amidase acting on isolated sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS)-treated walls from the same organism.
