During a study of the distribution of actinomycetes in a mangrove zone, a strain forming spore chains borne on the tip of short sporophores arising directly from the agar surface was isolated from soil. The isolate contained glutamic acid, glycine, alanine and meso-diaminopimelic acid as cell-wall amino acids, menaquinone MK-10(H(6), H(8)), fatty acid type 2d and xylose in the whole-cell hydrolysate.
