The Arabidopsis RPS4 gene belongs to the Toll/interleukin-1 receptor/nucleotide-binding site/leucine-rich repeat (TIR-NB-LRR) class of plant resistance (R) genes. It confers resistance to Pseudomonas syringae carrying the avirulence gene avrRps4.
