A recent report indicates that a lysine-to-methionine mutation (K289M) in the gamma2 subunit of a human gamma-aminobutyric acid neurotransmitter receptor, the GABA(A) receptor, is linked to generalized epilepsy with febrile seizures [Baulac et al.
