OBJECTIVE: Human mannose-binding lectin (MBL) is a C-type serum lectin synthesized by the liver as an acute-phase protein. MBL can bind to glycoproteins terminated with mannose and N-acetylglucosamine present in the cell walls on a variety of microorganisms.
