Linxian, a rural county in North Central China, has among the highest rates of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and gastric cardia adenocarcinoma (GCA) in the world. Its inhabitants have documented chronic nutritional inadequacies, including folate and vitamin B(12) deficiencies.
