Cellular sensors for methanol and ethanol determination were developed using immobilized mutant cells of methylotrophic yeasts Hansenula polymorpha and Pichia pinus (able to extrude protons in the presence of alcohol) and pH-sensitive field effect transistors (pH-SFETs).
