The genetic and molecular basis of a mutant prothrombin of 'prothrombin Tokushima' was studied by polymerase chain reaction-single strand conformation polymorphism (PCR-SSCP) and PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) analyses. The abnormal gene was detected by altered migration by PCR-SSCP and by the loss of an MspI site by PCR-RFLP. The gene for prothrombin Tokushima was shown to be inherited...
