A mutant showing a long coleoptile phenotype under white light was isolated from gamma-ray-mutagenized rice (cv. Nihonmasari). This mutant, named cpm1 (coleoptile photomorphogenesis 1), has been found to be impaired in phytochrome-mediated inhibition of coleoptile growth.
