Since 1998, five disorders involving enzyme defects in post-squalene cholesterol biosynthesis have been identified-desmosterolosis, X-linked dominant chondrodysplasia punctata, CHILD syndrome, lathosterolosis, and hydrops-ectopic calcification-moth-eaten skeletal dysplasia.
