Pituitary tumor-transforming gene (PTTG) originally isolated from GH-secreting pituitary adenoma cells causes in vitro cell transformation, in vivo tumorigenesis, and induces basic fibroblast growth factor. These functions require an intact C-terminal proline-proline-serine-proline motif.
