By using a cloned DNA segment containing the mutated sequences from the exopolysaccharide-deficient mutant T117 of Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris as a probe, a 9.4 kb HindIII fragment harbouring DNA sequences corresponding to the mutated site was identified and cloned from the wild-type strain. The fragment could complement the mutant strain T117 in trans and restore the synthesis of exopolysaccharide....
