Development of arbuscular mycorrhizal roots is correlated with accumulation of various isoprenoids, i.e. acyclic C(14) polyene 'mycorradicin' and C(13) cyclohexenone derivatives. We present data indicating a strong stimulation of carotenoid metabolism in such roots.
