OBJECTIVES: Microchimerism of foetal cells occurs during most pregnancies. Two autoimmune diseases, systemic sclerosis (SSc) and Sjögren's syndrome (SS), have many clinical and pathological similarities to chronic graft-vs-host disease (GVHD).
