The redox protein flavodoxin has been shown earlier to be reduced by the pyruvate-oxidoreductase (POR) enzyme complex of Helicobacter pylori, and also was proposed to be involved in the pathogenesis of gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid-tissue lymphoma (MALToma).
