Cell transplantation therapy for diabetes is limited by an inadequate supply of cells exhibiting glucose-responsive insulin secretion. To generate an unlimited supply of human beta-cells, inducibly transformed pancreatic beta-cell lines have been created by expression of dominant oncogenes.
