Eight mutant Cu,Zn-superoxide dismutases (SODs) related to familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (FALS) were produced in a baculovirus/insect cell expression system and their molecular properties in terms of hydroxyl radical formation and aggregation were compared with the wild-type enzyme.
