Angelman syndrome is an inherited disorder that includes severe mental retardation and epilepsy. Patients have no speech, puppet-like gait with jerky movements, hyperactivity, disturbed sleep, bouts of inappropriate laughter, a pronounced jaw, and widely spaced teeth.
