Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) is a hematologic disorder characterized by acquired PIG-A gene mutations that lead to defective bioassembly of glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchors and the absence of GPI-linked surface proteins.
