Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae causes bacterial leaf blight, one of the most widespread and destructive bacterial diseases of rice. A phosphoenolpyruvate synthase (ppsA)-disrupted mutant OSPAM was generated by homologous suicide plasmid integration.
