<h4>ABSTRACT</h4> <h4>Background</h4> Streptococcus pneumoniae is a nasopharynx coloniser that can invade sterile tissues, causing Invasive Pneumococcal Disease (IPD). Dolosigranulum pigrum and Corynebacterium pseudodiphtheriticum are commensal bacteria commonly isolated from the nasopharynx of healthy children, potentially playing a protective role.
