Columnaris is a common flavobacterial disease affecting tilapia aquaculture. Flavobacterium columnare has been identified as being responsible for the heavy mortalities of earthen-pond-cultured Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) at the Fayoum Governorate, Egypt.
