Acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND) or early mortality syndrome (EMS) is a severe hepatopancreatic disease of shrimp, caused mainly by Vibrio parahaemolyticus. Growing evidence has shown that gut bacterial imbalance is linked to bacterial pathogenesis.
