Sunn hemp (Crotalaria juncea) is valued in organic farming practices and is used to improve soil quality or as a surface mulch to suppress weed growth. In October 2016, sunn hemp (cv. ‘Tropic Sun’) growers in Maui County, Hawaii, noticed diseased plants displaying virus-like symptoms that included stunting, leaf mosaic, and reduced seed pod production.
