Excised trifoliolate leaves from a susceptible alfalfa (Medicago sativa) genotype were inoculated in vitro with 34 isolates of Phoma medicaginis var. medicaginis. Pathogenicity and virulence of isolates were assessed by their ability to produce leaf spot, petiole blight, and leaf chlorosis.
