Sweetpotato (Ipomoea batatas [L.] Lam) is an important food crop in the world. Sweetpotato virus disease (SPVD), a synergy of the whitefly-borne sweet potato chlorotic stunt virus (SPCSV) and the aphid-borne sweet potato feathery mottle virus (SPFMV), is the main constraint on sweetpotato production (Clark et al. 2012).
