The fungal strain O821 of Biscogniauxia sp. was isolated from wild mushrooms collected in Japan. Here, we demonstrate that a 24‐h pretreatment of rice leaves with an ethyl acetate extract of a culture filtrate from strain O821 (O821‐ECF) reduced the severity of rice blast disease caused by infection with Magnaporthe oryzae.
