The article describes the somatic dysfunction as a unity of structure and function, which can have reversible or irreversible alterations. The possible mechanisms of development of somatic dysfunctions on the local and regional levels are considered. The pathogenesis of somatic dysfunctions is presented as chain of adaptive, compensatory and decompensatory responses.
