Gray leaf spot, caused by the fungus Pyricularia grisea (Cooke) Sacc. [teleomorph Magnaporthe grisea (T.T. Herbert) Yaegashi & Udagawa], can be a devastating disease on perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.).
