Recent sequencing of genome of northern white-cheeked gibbon ( Nomascus leucogenys ) has provided important insight into fast evolution of gibbons and signatures relevant to gibbon biology. It was revealed that mobile genetic elements (MGE) seems to play major role in gibbon evolution.
