Sclerotinia stem rot (SSR) caused by Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (Lib.) De Bary is a serious fungal disease of soybean. Senescing petals provide a starting nutrient source for the invasion of healthy tissue by the advancing oxalic acid secreting fungal hyphae.
