Ugni molinae Turcz. (Myrtaceae), commonly known as murta or Chilean guava, is a small evergreen shrub, native to the south of Chile. It is grown for the flavor of its fruit and leaf extracts, rich in antioxidant polyphenols and triterpenoids, used in pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.
