<title>Abstract</title> <p>Background Psittacine Bornaviruses cause a unique disease syndrome in parrots and related birds. Known as proventricular dilatation disease (PDD), it is characterized by massive dilatation of their proventriculus as a result of excessive food accumulation within that organ.
