Androgenetic alopecia is induced by testosterone-mediated anagen-to-catagen transition and matrix keratinocyte apoptosis in hair follicle cells. Activation of Nox isozymes is involved in testosterone-mediated keratinocyte apoptosis, leading to androgenetic alopecia.
