<h4>Summary</h4> Mechanisms that drive virulence gene duplication in plant pathogenic fungi remain poorly understood. In Pyrenophora tritici-repentis ( Ptr ), responsible for tan spot of wheat, ToxB is a multicopy virulence gene encoding a proteinaceous necrotrophic effector.
