<h4>ABSTRACT</h4> Southern rust is a severe foliar disease of maize resulting from infection with the obligate biotrophic fungus, Puccinia polysora . The disease reduces photosynthetic productivity which reduces yields with the greatest yield losses (up to 50%) associated with earlier onset infections.
