Pigeon Newcastle disease (ND) is a severe infectious disease caused by pigeon Newcastle disease virus (NDV) or Paramyxovirus type 1 (PPMV-1). Genotype VI NDV is a major cause of ND in Columbiformes (i.e. pigeons and doves).
