Bacterial brown spot (BBS) in maize (Zea mays L.) is caused by Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae Van Holl (Pss). In China, this disease is not prevalent in maize at present. Here, we report the identification and fine mapping of the gene, referred to as Psy1, which confers resistance to BBS.
