<h4>ABSTRACT</h4> Metachromatic leukodystrophy (MLD) is an autosomal recessive neurodegenerative disorder caused by mutations in the arylsulfatase A (ARSA) gene, resulting in lower sulfatase activity and the toxic accumulation of sulfatides in the central and peripheral nervous system.
