In 2020 and 2021, an unusual occurrence of leaf spots on most of the cotton BG-II hybrids (Gossypium hirsutum L.) was recorded in northwestern India, with 5 to 50% disease incidence. Initial symptoms on lower leaves were minute pinhead-sized brown to brick-red dots that led to the formation of circular to irregular spots with tan-to-light brown centers surrounded by a light to dark purple margin (5 to 10 mm).
